Work included in ArtAscent Magasine: Emotion

Responding to the open call for art that evoked emotion, I submitted some artwork that I felt had emotion baked into them quite strongly.

I am grateful to have been awarded the Distinguished Artist medal, and my work is showing in the magasine alongside many other brilliant and emotive pieces by international artists.

The two pieces of mine accepted into the magasine show the frustration with watercolour and the other frustration with oil paint.

They emblemise the distress that I know a lot of artists struggle with when a piece isn’t turning out the way they want or expect, and decisions lead to a piece that shows their emotion as clearly as a stamp.

Both of these mediums are ones that don’t respond well to control. It shows in these pieces that force being applied by the artist to attempt to control how the paint lies.

While these are not the artworks that showcase technique or refined skill, they hold a special place as evocative representations of my emotions and they also have come to symbolise a stage in my artistic development that ought to be remembered so that the lesson is learned.
