My First (Photoshop) 2D Animation!

My First (Photoshop) 2D Animation!

I’m so excited to present my first 2D animation made with photoshop, a tool used by professionals throughout the industry that I have always wanted to get a handle on eventually. Now I have!

I have been following Jocie Juritz’s online course where she takes you through the steps of 2D animation in the software, and all her tips and tricks. I really liked how the course was structured and the level of information it had in it to get a great understanding of all the steps.

We started off easy with a simple test, making a shape move from one side to another.

Then we chose 3 things from a list provided that we wanted to animate. I chose a candle, a hermit crab and an egg! Following on from that we storyboarded and then created the line drawing of what would become the final animation.

Once we had the base of the animation done it was all about colouring in. We chose a colour palette and tested out how it would work for each step of the final looping gif.

The final part took time and lot more layers than I expected, but the whole thing came together in the end!!!

I’m so pleased to have completed this animation. I will leave the link to Jocie’s 2D animation course below for anyone who wants to try animating for the first time and has access to photoshop!
