I chose to paint the texture of limestone because the subject of colonialism clashes so heavily with the concept of identity rooted in our environments to me. Depicting the texture of the ground that is being bombed right now is a way to represent the resilience and strength in Palestinian people who have been dispossessed and controlled for 75 years now.
