On-the-spot Pet Portraits!

During a recent market with Cheeky London Lab for London Design Festival, I decided to take the plunge and offer on-the-spot pet portraits at my stall! 

I’ve always been nervous to provide a service where I have to create in front of people, but over the years I’ve felt my confidence grow, and with a little encouragement from other creatives and vendors I felt I could finally do it.

I decided to have two options, based on time and material. For £10 you could get a pet portrait that I do in 10 minutes with pencil only. For £30 you would receive a watercolour & pen painted portrait done in 30 mins.

I was imagining I would be drawing based on photographs shared with me by the customers, but I also realised that I may have to try drawing the pets on the spot if they brought them along with the family!

I was lucky to quickly receive my first commission that afternoon, drawing the adorable Ricky in pencil! I was really pleased with how I managed to capture the pooch, and almost felt like the 10 minute time crunch worked in my favour to make the piece simple and clean rather than overworked.

The customer was pleased too, so I will soon be implementing a tiered system of commissions on my website - keep a lookout for more details to come!
