Print-making Progress

This pencil sketch of pickle I drew quickly in a park has been nestled in my sketchbook for months, ready to be turned into something as soon as I had the time and resources to do it, and its finally happened!
First I took this scan of the sketch, and reversed it in Photoshop. I then traced the design right off of the laptop, using the screen as a lightbox so that it would fit on A5.
What confuses me is that I reversed it with the intention of the final prints turning out with Pickle facing the same way as the sketch, but that didn’t happen. I clearly need to remember this if I ever do any text!
Once I had transfered the design to the lino block I used the traced page and a sharpie to decide the print design - whether the art was only outlines like the pencil sketch or not. In the end I decided that Pickle, who was originally a black dog, could be infilled with inverted lines as the details.
I first tested the print on A4 paper to get some wiggle room, and I fell in love with the final product!
I hope you enjoy this portrait of Pickle the pooch as much as I do! If you’d like him up on your wall as an original small lino print, check it out below or in the shop page.
