ABOUT
LINA NOUEIRI
Lina is a British-Lebanese artist based in London with a background in architecture. She studied for 10 years in the field before switching careers to become a freelance artist in 2022, after graduating from her MA in Architecture at the Royal College of Art.
Her art practice explores ways in which we connect with each other as humans. Many of these scenes depict the sharing of meals, seen by her as a universal symbol of care and effort shown to one another. Lina's paintings evoke a sense of joy in the mundane, and aim to feel familiar whether you recognise the table, people or room.
Lina Noueiri's background in architecture influences her way of using composition to tell a story within her artwork. From exagerated perspectives, to feeling like you are within the scene, to a sense of energy and chaos in the movement of hands, her paintings feel like snapshots of mundane yet joyful moments.
The medium of choice for Lina varies over the course of time, starting with watercolour, then gouache and now oil paint. However, she is always aiming to develop her technical skills and try out a new style or medium between working on her cohesive body of work.
