'Just Out of Reach' Painting

This original oil painting is inspired by two things - Van Gogh's desire to paint haystacks again and again in different light conditions and my home. I would like to do the same technique of repetitious studies with this skylight in my home. The flat I live in does not have windows on the sides but only has two skylights, and so I often feel like the outdoors is just out of reach, unable to be enjoyed from inside as the room feels like a bunker that won't let direct light enter easily. When a sunny day came I thought it was the perfect opportunity to do my first skylight painting capturing the way that the tunnel bounces and reflects the light into the darker flat below.
